Stitch Fix #5 Review

I received my 5th Fix this week.  I requested and got back my original stylist this time and was very pleased with what I got.  If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix you can read more about it here.
To see my previous "Fixes" here are the links:

I requested some light colored, distressed boyfriend jeans.  I got these Just Black Riley Distressed Boyfriend Jeans.  Perfect fit and super soft.  These made me smile!

I also asked for some colored jeans.  My stylist sent me these Just Black Dean Skinny Jeans.  They are the perfect color of purple and the fit of these was also good.  The material is thick and really soft.  I loved these and planned on wearing them with booties.  But all four pairs of my booties zip and the zippers at the bottom of these pants was just too much zip-ish going on.  (Yep, I made up that word!)

Up next was a dress.  I asked for a cotton, maxi dress for my up coming trip to Cancun.  I got this Pixley Lyra Chevron Print Dress. It has 3/4 length sleeves and is WAY too long for me.  Not what I had in mind for my trip. What do you think?  This print was a little too granny for me too.

This next piece rendered me speechless.  I can say nothing good about the material or the print.  So just take a look and I'll let you form your own opinions.  May I present to you the 41Hawthorne Zappo Printed Mixed Material Sweater.

My fifth item was this Fun2Fun Torrey Henley Button Top. I liked the fit and the length was perfect to wear with leggings.  It covers all the right parts!

Overall this fix was good.  I must say Stitch Fix has the BEST pants ever.  I still can't get over the great fit of their pants and the amazing quality.  It makes me want to request an "all pants" fix.  I may just do that!!  If you're interested in jumping on the Stitch Fix band wagon, here's a link.  Go get started!!!  Just a warning...it's addictive!!

Made It Monday

I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics again today for Made It Monday.

Now that the holidays are over I can share this project.  It was a gift for a few people so I didn't want to post about it before Christmas.
I'll start with a pic of the finished product and then go through the steps of making it.

You need a yard stick, lots of wine corks, a hot glue gun, and some wide grosgrain ribbon.

Simply glue the corks to the yard stick.  I'm a little OCD so I had to make sure they were all positioned the same direction!  I made a big bow (I used red to match most Christmas decor) and hot glued it to the top of the yard stick.  The yard stick that I used had a hole at the top to hang it, so I made sure that was behind the bow.
I had some long straight pins that I used to pin my Christmas cards to the corks.  That's it!!!!  So easy and they make a great gift.  I suppose you could leave off the bow and use this to pin up pictures throughout the year.  It would be cute in an office or entry way of your house.

Let me know what you think. :-)
My next project is for the mister for Valentine's Day and for the new house.  I saw this on Pinterest somewhere and got crafty.

I cut and pasted the lyrics to John Legend's "All of Me" over and over to fill the page, in a cute font.  Then, I printed the outline of the tree over the lyrics and started cutting.  This part took a minute.  I printed everything on card stock, including the red hearts with our names on them.  I had some raffata on hand so I used that to "tie" the hearts to the tree limb.  I had a black frame and white mat on hand that worked perfectly.  I'm pretty happy with the finished product. I'll take a pic later (and post) of it hanging on the wall so you can see the entire frame.

February Currently

Listening
I do NOT do total silence.  I have to have some type of noise at all times.  So HGTV is my go to channel to have on in the background.

Loving
Little Tess started drinking a TON of water this week and going potty a lot more.  So off to the vet we went.  Turns out she is diabetic.  This was not a good birthday week for my baby.  She turned 10 and got diabetes. :-(  We are now doing insulin injections twice a day.  This momma is heart broken. #prayersappreciated

Thinking
I'm thinking about how lazy I've been the last few months.  I have NO motivation and no drive to get to the gym.  This is not normal for me.  You'd think my trip to Cancun next month would be some motivation for me, but nope.
Here's a throw back to about a year ago when I was serious about my workouts.

Wanting
We signed the contract in December for our new house.  The building loan finally went through this week and I'm soooo ready for it to be finished.  We're hoping to close in June, which works perfectly with my teacher schedule. :-)

Needing
As I sit here still in my pajamas, I need to be doing a lot of stuff but lesson plans and writing curriculum for this week should be at the top of my To-Do list.  It may or may not happen today.

Pageant Title
The perfect pageant title for me would have to be, "Miss Needs-A-Nap."  Without my daily nap, I'm no good and no good to be around. (So I hear!)  Most problems can be better solved after naps!!  Just ask this little cutie!!!

Stitch Fix Review #4

So.....I came home from a loooong day at work yesterday to find my Fix had arrived.  I brought in the frozen box and dove in!  If you're new to Stitch Fix, you can read all the details here.  Basically, for $20 bucks you get five items, return what you hate, no catches, they pay shipping. Simple and exciting.

So now to the review...
Just so you know, I requested a pair of light wash, distressed boyfriend jeans, cowl neck sweaters and cardigans in BRIGHT colors.  No jewelry, scarves, or dresses for now.  I received an awesome pair of dark wash, boyfriend jeans in my last fix.  I loved the cut and style but wanted a lighter wash.
So what I got this time was a gray pair of distressed, boyfriend jeans.  Same style (Ruxin) and brand (Mavi) as the last pair but these were HUGE on me.  No I have not lost any weight, I wish, but NO.  Not sure why they are so gigantic, but they are going back. Plus I just got a pair of gray jeans at Gap before the holidays.  Love 'em, btw.
(Mavi Ruxin Boyfriend Jean in Gray)

Next up was this purple Kut From the Kloth Larson Collared Knit Top.  Awesome color, material too thin for me, and it was not flattering on my bod.  Return

The only possible keeper from this batch is the 41Hawthorn Concord Striped Draped Pocket Cardigan.  Great colors, comfy, and would look good with jeans or those new gray Gap jeans!
Update: I LOVE, LOVE this cardigan.  It's cotton knit so it will be great for multiple seasons.  So glad I decided to keep it.
This one hurts to talk about, it's the Caramela Voltaire Lace Detail Cardigan.  I got a knit cardigan in my first Fix the exact same color that I kept....grrrrrrrrr.  I do NOT need two and the lace detail makes it look cheap.  If you're currently wearing this, sorry it's just not my style.  Btw, it's more green than blue.  I'm blaming this on bad lighting and maybe the iPad quality pic.  Return

Lastly, this Olive & Oak Genesee Hi-Lo Knit Sweater.  It was not a bright color per my request nor was it a cowl neck but it was however, the color of baby poop.  Not a color I look my best in, just sayin'.  Awesome on someone else, just not this gal.  Return

I'm currently taking a deep breathe and will continue to give detailed feedback, specific requests, and more Pinterest pins.  This is a fun, fun service and very affordable and I'd recommend it to anyone.  I'd also like to note that I've had three different stylists.  I had the same one for my first two Fixes and I think I need to request her again.  The last two I've had were a bit off the mark.
Having said all that, if you wanna give this Fix thing a whirl here's the link.  Go for it and let me know your results.

I think I'll take a nap now...sigh.
